This article will explore the history of Girlguiding, what makes this 50p so special, and how it will be used to help promote the charity’s centenary celebrations in 2021. This marks the first time a national organisation that is specifically for girls has been featured on British coinage since its introduction in 1971. It’s been 100 years since the beginning of Girlguiding and so to commemorate this momentous occasion, the Royal Mint has released a commemorative 50p coin.
